Meryl Streep’s Attack On The President-Elect Draws The Kind Of Reply Only Trump Would Dare
Famous Hollywood actress Meryl Streep has called out President-elect Donald Trump when she received her Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday’s Golden Globes, a report from Western Journalism said on Tuesday.
“There was one performance this year that stunned me,” she said. “It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good. There was nothing good about it. But it was effective, and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth.
“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it. I still can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”
The legendary actress was actually referring to Trump’s remarks during the campaign, when he mocked the New York Times reporter Serge F. Kovaleski.
“And this instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing,” the actress said.

For his part, Trump took to Twitter to respond to Streep’s remark.

“Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a…..,” Trump tweeted.
Trump dismissed Streep as “a Hillary lover” as the actress spoke in support of Clinton at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
“It isn’t that statements like Streep’s or video pleas to deny and defy Donald Trump are going to have an effect on our democratic process. If anything, one can imagine every Republican strategist wishing for at least one preposterous rant like the one by the honored actress every week until November of 2020,” the report added.
